Curfew | Legault asks Quebeckers to provide a “collective effort”

“The curfew comes into effect today. It is a difficult decision that I made to curb the spread of the virus, ”he writes.

He said he wanted to impose this “shock treatment” to protect Quebecers and “prevent gatherings, even the smallest”.

The situation is particularly critical in hospitals where hospitalizations have been on the rise for several weeks. “We are approaching a tipping point where we can only treat the most urgent cases”, he laments.

The start of the vaccination campaign may bring hope, according to the prime minister, but is not moving fast enough to curb the contagion.

“Our battle is over and as in a long marathon, it is the last kilometers which are the hardest,” he concludes.

All of Quebec, except the territories of Nunavik and Terres-Cries-de-la-Baie-James, will be prohibited from driving from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. from Saturday evening, until February 8.
