After a police operation in Zurich, 18 young people were temporarily taken into custody. Around 20 people were turned away. A crowd of people looking for quarrels had called the police on the scene.

First, the city police were reported shortly after 9.30 p.m. on Friday that a group was rioting on Utoquai. Out of the way police officers found no one. At the same time, however, a police patrol from Sechseläutenplatz reported that a larger group of people was mobbing there, as the city police announced on Saturday.

Police officers arriving on the square were fired at from within the group and objects were thrown at them. When more police officers approached, the group split up and fled in the direction of the nearby Stadelhofen train station. The police said they were able to prevent a fight.

At the same time, the Stadtzürcher Verkehrsbetriebe (VBZ) reported a rioting group in a tram nearby. But the troublemakers were able to get out before the police arrived. Then police officers checked two larger groups at Bellevue and at Stadelhofen train station.

About 20 people were turned away, the police wrote. The police took 18 minors, including three young women, to the police station. They were then given to their parents. No information on injuries or property damage was available by Saturday morning.
