Rödinghausen: Corona outbreak in retirement home after vaccinations – Westphalia-Lippe – news

Nobody in the home had tested positive since the beginning of the corona pandemic – now there are cases: Twelve residents and two employees have become infected. So far, they don’t seem to have any symptoms.

Doctor: Vaccination not possible

According to Hermann Lorenz, a doctor from Herford and coordinator of the mobile vaccination teams in the district, the vaccination cannot have been the trigger for the infection: “No viruses are vaccinated, you cannot get sick from this vaccination. It is a technical, modern vaccine that gives the body information to produce antibodies.”

In addition, the vaccinations do not work immediately, the body needs a while until the protection is actually there, says Lorenz. This is one of the reasons why people who have already had an injection can still get infected.

Not an isolated case

Rödinghausen is not an isolated case. People who have already been vaccinated are also infected in a retirement home in Warendorf. The experts emphasize again and again: There is nothing against vaccination, but a lot for it.
