Football: No changes in the Mittweida squad
Uwe Schneider (photo) does not have much contact with his Germania Mittweida footballers these days. “There were a few greetings for Christmas, then again for New Year,” says the coach of the national league tithe. “Otherwise the sport is not that important at the moment because everyone has to deal with these restrictions.” At least in terms of personnel, Schneider can probably continue to plan with all players. “I am not aware of any de-registration,” says the 60-year-old, referring to the changeover period in winter.

Schneider himself had to close his two sports shops in Geithain due to the lockdown. “Everyone is now brooding over the restrictions and what is allowed and what is not.” Football is a long way off for him in the current situation, he admits. “And so it will be for many.” He doubts that it will be possible to play again in February.
For Harald Kaehs, President of SV Germania, it is extremely important “that everyone remains loyal during this time”. There are currently no major changes, not even in the form of cancellations. “I’m very happy about it,” says Kaehs. “We already thanked the members in our New Year’s greetings for paying their dues even in difficult times and for refraining from claiming back.” The association was able to put the saved costs for referees and sports facilities into equipping teams and supervisors. With regard to the continuation of the regional league season, it is logical for the club boss that the Saxon Football Association is still waiting. “If you break off now, your membership of the club also breaks away,” he says. “Finishing the first half of the season is the straw that many are now clinging to.” (rosd)
