Be vigilant and patient on the road. This Thursday, January 7, 2021, drink wholesalers are mobilized on the highways around Lille, to express their anger and their dismay at the economic crisis following the pandemic of Covid-19. Traffic jams are reported on three axes.
Traffic jams on the A25, A23 and A21
Around 8 a.m., the prefecture announced traffic jams on three motorways towards Lille: the A25 from Bailleul, the A23 from Petite-Forêt and the A21 from Lens. The biggest slowdowns are currently on the A25, between Bailleul and Englos.
The disturbances could last part of the morning. On his Facebook page, Laurent Pecqueur, director of Sodiboissons, indicates that 12 companies are mobilized for “100 trucks on the roads”.
Angry drink wholesalers
“We are asking for the same aid as our closed clients to save our jobs and our businesses! », Continues the northern drink wholesaler.
These companies are now mobilized because, dependent on establishments currently closed due to the health crisis, they are seeing their turnover fall sharply. The wholesalers want the State to help them up to 20% of the lost turnover and ask for an exemption from social and employer charges for 2021 and the possibility of resorting to partial unemployment.
The snail operation must continue at least until 9:30 am in Lille, where a demonstration is planned on the Place de la République in front of the prefecture.
