In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, the health authorities have recently registered a record number of new corona infections. Retirement homes and care facilities are particularly affected.
In Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, numerous new corona infections occur again and again in old people’s and nursing homes. In a nursing home in Lübz in the Ludwigslust-Parchim district, more than 100 residents and employees have been infected with the corona virus since Christmas. How the virus was able to spread so quickly there is inexplicable for the home management. 400 corona tests were carried out in the week before Christmas. All 120 residents and employees have been tested several times. Without exception, there were negative results. In the facilities in the northeast, stricter regulations have been in place since mid-December. For example, visitors have to show a negative test.
Homes in Lübenheen and Krenzlin affected
Other facilities in the district are affected: 14 infected residents and five infected employees have now been registered in the German Red Cross retirement home in Lübenheen. The Krenzlin nursing home is also affected by corona cases. According to the district, eight residents there tested positive for the corona virus.
Lake District: 24 contact follow-up teams
In a care facility in Stavenhagen (Mecklenburg Lake District) 46 residents and employees are currently infected. The situation is similar in homes in Malchin and Neubrandenburg. In the entire Mecklenburg Lake District district, 24 teams are now dealing with contact tracking. They found that those affected were only infected in private, as a district spokeswoman said. In addition, corona cases have been registered with three care services in Neubrandenburg, Neustrelitz and Rosenow.
Infections in rehabilitation clinic – facility becomes corona replacement hospital
In a rehabilitation clinic in Neubrandenburg, 23 patients and employees were also infected with the corona virus. Regardless of this, the clinic is now to be converted into a corona replacement hospital in the short term. All affected employees and first-degree contact persons are in quarantine, further tests were in progress, it said. No new rehabilitation patients are to be admitted to the clinic for the time being.
