“Our first value as public media is to bring the French together”, estimated Delphine Ernotte, the president of France Televisions, during the presentation Tuesday January 5 of the novelties on France 2, France 3 and France 5. They are marked by a diversity of the programs and those which embody them. “For that, you have to represent everyone, make you feel at home, and make sure to talk about what is close to each one”.
Lessons from the health crisis
This renewal of the schedules is a clever mix of promises from the president of the group Delphine Ernotte (more creation, rejuvenation of the audience), demands of the Superior Audiovisual Council (more diversity on the screen), expectations of the French (fight against disinformation, more cultural diversity and ecology,), coupled with teaching about the health crisis which revealed a need for scientific information and a search for well-being.
In a consultation on expectations of public media, 85% of participants put the fight against fake news at the top of their news priorities, ahead of media education for young people (68%) and investigation (53%). To this end, the group has extended its tools for verifying information on social networks popular with young people such as Tik-Tok and Switch.
“A right to education and nuance”
On the investigation side, two new issues have been announced. Once a month from March 2021, France 3 will offer a television adaptation of “Sensitive Affairs”, the program by Fabrice Drouelle on France Inter which will review major French affairs. In another genre, Marie Drucker will reopen on France 2 unsolved judicial files in “At the end of the investigation: the end of the perfect crime”.
Karim Rissouli, the presenter of “Political C” on France 5, takes the reins of “C tonight”, Monday to Thursday at 8:30 pm on the same channel, from January 25. “To debate is to argue so as not to fight”, this is the motto of this “New space for daily debate” who promises “Pedagogy and nuance” on a topical theme debated by a guest and journalists Camille Diao, Laure Adler and Jean Birnbaum and Maxime Darquier.

Science for “laymen”
France 4, whose fate seems well and truly sealed, was the great absence of this press conference. But France 5, which is preparing to host youth programs, welcomes a new face well known to young and old: Jamy. From Monday to Friday at 5 pm, from February, the former journalist of “C’est pas sorcier”, a talented popularizer of science, will talk about science and discovery by addressing “To lay people from 7 to 77 years old”.
In a more entertaining spirit, Michel Cymès will offer on Sunday at 5.30 pm “Antidote” on France 2, a family meeting for “Talking about science and health while having fun and doing experiments”. “We want to be an antidote to fake news, by explaining why they are involved, but also to talk about grandmothers’ recipes or received ideas about food or the functioning of the brain”, explained the host.
In the same vein of well-being, Agathe Lacarrau (“Les Maternelles” on France 4) and Ali Rebeihi, who hosts “Grand bien vous faire” on France Inter, will co-host “Bel & Bien” on Saturday at 9.45 am. “The idea is to support people in a good mood so that they are better. The confinement expressed a wish to take better care of us and our body ”, said Stephane Sitbon-Gomez, director of antennas and programs of the group.
Live performance on Friday evening
Cuisine, discovery and proximity will be on the menu of “Open Kitchen”, a new culinary show embodied by Mori Sacko, 28 years old. This young chef, revealed by “Top chef” on M6, will set off to discover a region and reinvent regional specialties.
On the cultural side, a live performance will continue to be offered every Friday evening on France 5. In another register, the general public will be invited to choose the candidate for the next Eurovision Song Contest.
