The New York Giants are frustrated.
Despite the win over the Dallas Cowboys on the final day of the regular season, the team missed the NFL playoffs. The reason for this is the defeat of the Philadelphia Eagles against the Washington Football Team. Had Philadelphia beaten the previous Redskins, the Giants would have moved into the postseason.
Shortly after the Philly bankruptcy, players and coaches from the Big Apple franchise had sensed a scandal and felt betrayed. But not the Eagles defeat itself, but the way in which it came about caused unrest.
Eagles coach changed quarterback
Early in the fourth quarter, Philly head coach Doug Pederson took quarterback Jalen Hurts off the field and replaced him with Nobody Nate Sudfeld (only 37 NFL passes thrown in three years). The Eagles were only three points behind at this point. (NFL results and schedule)

For Giants trainer Joe Judge an absurdity. “As long as I’m head coach of the New York Giants, we won’t do anything like that,” he said on Monday evening when asked if the Eagles had done something wrong. He never mentioned the name of the division rival.
“We had a lot of people choosing this season. Coaches, players, but also family members. They sacrificed to get to work every day. These efforts everyone made to make the season in the NFL.” To make it a success, not to be respected by going out and not giving the opponent a fight for 60 minutes, not doing everything to help the players to victory – we would never do that as long as I am Head Coach of New York Giants am “, Judge continued to rage.
After the game, there was already great displeasure in New York.
Anger at the New York Giants
“I think the Eagles hate us more than Washington,” wrote Giants receiver Golden Tate on Twitter: “This is the only way that makes sense. Or?” Some teammates were similarly skeptical.
Hurts hadn’t shone as a passer before (seven of 20 throws appropriate for 72 yards and one interception), but ran into the end zone for two rush touchdowns and thus kept Philly in the game at all. (SERVICE: NFL table)
Sudfeld then only brought five of his twelve pass attempts to the man, threw an interception and was sacked twice for a whopping 16 yards of space. Washington increased with a field goal and brought victory over time.
Eagles coach Pederson later announced that he had “coached to win” and justified the dubious quarterback change with the fact that he wanted to give the team another boost.
