[국제]Japan seems to be declaring an emergency on the 7th… this time, “It’s too late”

Due to the severe coronavirus outbreak, Japanese Prime Minister Suga is expected to declare an emergency on the 7th in Tokyo and other metropolitan areas.

However, in a situation where the infection has already spread greatly, concerns are growing whether the corona can be caught with weaker regulations than during the emergency last year.

Japanese Prime Minister Suga announced on the 7th that he will hold a government advisory committee.

Before declaring an emergency situation in four metropolitan local governments, including Tokyo, it goes through the process of listening to experts’ opinions.

The emergency period is expected to be about a month from the 8th as early as the coming, but it may be extended depending on the infection situation.

The local governments declared a joint response and appealed for residents’ cooperation.

Unlike last year’s emergency, which was followed by full closures and school closures, this time, only some businesses, such as restaurants, are expected to cut their operations.

The problem is effectiveness.

As there is no coercion under the current law, many of the businesses did not follow the reduction in sales at the end of the year.

An amendment to the law penalizing businesses that do not participate is expected to be presented to the National Assembly this month, but it will take time to pass.

There is also a forecast that private consumption will decrease by more than 50 trillion won if an emergency continues for a month.

This is another damage as a result of the Suga Cabinet neglecting quarantine by putting the economy ahead of the travel support business.

How the infection situation unfolds after the emergence of the emergency is expected to be the key to the Suga cabinet’s luck.
