An Apple device that uses augmented reality will appear sometime in 2021. That predicts the usually well-informed analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, reports MacRumors Monday.
Kuo does not give details about the gadget, but in an earlier prediction he spoke about augmented reality glasses that connect to the iPhone.
In augmented reality, virtual objects are projected on top of the real world. For example, it is possible to try out a closet from a web store in a room or to show a route planner on the road.
Apple already offers augmented reality on the iPhone and iPad, where the virtual world is visible on the camera image. Recent iPhones and iPads got a depth sensor to help with this.
‘The next big step’
The plans for Apple glasses have never been officially confirmed, but CEO Tim Cook called the technology “the next big technological step” last year.
Kuo thinks Apple will also introduce the AirTags in 2021. By sticking these gadgets on properties, they can be found from an iPhone app.
