Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has called Kieran Tierney a ‘natural leader’ and a potential future captain, after the Scotland international scored one goal and another in the 4-0 Premier League win Saturday at West Bromwich Albion.
Tierney, who started 16 of Arsenal’s 17 league appearances this season, scored his second goal for the club in the first half before preparing Alexandre Lacazette as the team won their third straight game in the competition.
Asked by reporters whether 23-year-old Tierney could be a future Arsenal skipper, Arteta said: “I think he can because he has the respect and admiration of everyone. staff member and each player.

“It’s just the way it is, it does it the natural way. He’s a shy boy but I think he represents all the values that we want to install and that are in the DNA of this club.
“He came here and it took him a long time, he had a very serious injury… but he’s a natural leader. You see how he behaves on this pitch, and when he speaks he says the right thing and that’s exactly what we’re looking for. ”
Arteta has also said he will talk to Lacazette this summer about a contract extension in the final 18 months of his contract.
Lacazette has scored four league goals in his last three games for 11th-placed Arsenal.
“I’m delighted with his performances, the goals he is scoring, the form and the energy he has right now, so he has to keep doing it,” said Arteta.
