WASHINGTON, AYOBANDUNG.COM – One of the worst hacks that took place last year was hacking SolarWinds massive in America. This hack took place in mid-December which affected government agencies and Microsoft.
Hackers try to carry out attacks like this all the time. However, attack SolarWinds more dangerous because it is believed to have originated in Russia.
Russia denies the operation, but experts have blamed Russia from the early days of the investigation. More than two weeks after the hack, Microsoft exposing the attackers to be able to access critical software. The hacker managed to access the source code of one or more classified products.
Program code or source code is a set of instructions for running software or an operating system. Tech companies in general will be very protective of their source code.
Source code is the architecture of a software. If someone has it it will be easier to carry out attacks.
Reporting from BGR, Sunday (3/1/2020), Microsoft explained in a post to a blog post that hackers cannot change the program code. However, just looking at the source code of companies like Microsoft it may be enough for hackers to develop new attacks that harm the company’s other products.
If it is true that a country started an attack SolarWinds, then source code access becomes more important. Microsoft did not explain in the blog post what kind of program code was visible, so it was unclear what type of software might be affected.
