LONDON, Jan 3 (Reuters) – British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Sunday, when asked about the possibility of holding a new vote on Scottish independence, that referendums should only be held once every generation.
“The only point I would make is that referendums, from my direct experience in this country, are not particularly joyous events,” Johnson told the BBC.
“They do not have a remarkably unifying force in the national mood, they should be celebrated only once per generation,” he said.
