During this English winter market (which begins today January 2 and ends on February 1) West Ham could try to sign players to reinforce their team for the second half of the season. Scottish coach David Moyes is rumored to have requested reinforcements for various positions such as center forward, left back and even midfielder.
According to many media, West Ham wants to sign a striker as the scoring figures of Michail Antonio and Sébastien Haller are not the best (6 goals between the two). One player they could sign that David Moyes would want back would be Austrian forward Marko Arnautović who is currently in the ranks of the Chinese Shanghai SIPG. For this signing there is a lot of debate among the fans and even between the coach (who wants him back) and the board (who does not want him back). Another player who is sounding quite a bit for the Irons is Bournemouth’s Norwegian forward Joshua King. It seems that the player does not want to spend any longer in the Championship, the second category of English football and that he would be willing to force an exit to reach West Ham. Finally, two other players who have related but to a lesser extent with the London team are Abdallah Sima, a very young Senegalese striker from Slavia Prague and Adam Armstrong, the second top scorer in the Championship who is currently with the Blackburn Rovers.
A position that could be even essential to reinforce would be that of the left back, since the incumbent Arthur Masuaku suffered a knee injury that will keep him off the pitch for at least three more months. There are only two left-backs on the team: Ben Johnson, who still doesn’t have much experience in the elite, and Aaron Cresswell who usually plays center-back when David Moyes opts for a 5-man defense. Three names have sounded in recent months. One of them is that of the Spanish-Dominican FC Barcelona Junior Firpo. Rumor has it that he is frustrated by the lack of opportunities and would be looking for a way out. Another name that they have linked with West Ham since the summer market is Rico Henry, a very important player in Thomas Frank’s schemes at the helm of Brentford. Finally, there was also talk of the versatile Ukrainian left-back of Manchester City, Oleksandr Zinchenko. Not having many opportunities, like Junior Firpo, he would be looking for a way out and sees West Ham’s option favorably.
Another plot that lacks depth is the midfielder. The undisputed starters are Declan Rice and Czech Tomáš Souček and his only substitute after the departure of Jack Wilshere is Captain Mark Noble. The first player is the aforementioned Oleksandr Zinchenko. The versatile Slavic player can also play as a midfielder and could be an excellent asset for David Moyes. The other name that is talked about is Alex Král, a Slovakian nationalized Czech midfielder who shares a core in the Czech team with Tomáš Souček.
What reinforcement do you think would suit the Hammers best?
