Tokyo reports COVID-19 cases 816 more new cases one day after the governor of the capital and neighboring provinces requested the government declare a state of emergency.
According to the governor of Tokyo and Nearby Mon asked the government to declare a second state of emergency in order to combat the widespread spread of the epidemic. But Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga has not yet announced and is preparing to speak to the people tomorrow (January 4), on Saturday (January 2), the Economy Minister said. The government needs to consult with public health experts before making a decision. Tokyo currently takes temporary measures. Request that the restaurant and karaoke closes at 8:00 PM, the restaurant serving alcohol closes at 7 PM.
Japan had already declared a state of emergency once in April, but it forced businesses to shut down services and voluntarily refrain from traveling. Not using strict lockdown measures like other countries.
Tokyo raised its highest warning level on Dec.17, new cases of the capital city hit a record 1,337 on Dec. 31.
Today (3 Jan), the Ministry of Public Health said 3,045 new COVID cases nationwide, 240,000 cumulative cases, 3,548 deaths.
