More nursing homes are struggling with corona • Farmers ride parade for lonely elderly people

Bart De Wever, the mayor of Antwerp, will have been a bit ashamed this morning during a New Year’s interview on the Belgian Radio 2. He had dressed so neatly in an ironed check shirt, and filmed himself for the interview, which was also shown live on TV channel One. But what he didn’t realize was that the mirror behind him clearly showed that he wasn’t wearing pants.

Presenter Kim Debrie noted this at the end of the interview. “I’m a little distracted,” she admitted. “You are wearing a very nice tank top, you probably donned it especially for us. But under that tank top: could it be that you are there in your underwear?” She asks. “How can you know that?” Asks De Wever, caught. “Because I’m probably sitting in front of a mirror, damn it. I didn’t take that into account. The year starts with a particularly embarrassing moment here.”

An excerpt from the Radio 2 interview is seen here.

It is not the first time that people do not take too closely the dress code when working from home in these corona times. For example, after an interview with CNN, the American scientist Gretchen Goldman shared a backstage photo, from which it becomes clear that she had not spent too much time looking for a suitable pair of pants to match her outfit.
