The vegetarian-vegan Green Garden in Salzburg scores (not only) in lockdown with its well-stocked boxes for hip, healthy foodies.
The vegetarian-vegan Green Garden in Salzburg is undoubtedly one of those places that couldn’t be easily brought to their knees by the lockdown. Operator Julia Platzer, who opened the restaurant on Nonntaler Hauptstrasse in 2013, is extremely busy. And during the crisis it expanded its business with its colorful (and very Instagram-compatible) food boxes – not only in Salzburg, but also in Vienna, among other places.
Most recently, she offered a junk food box with brightly colored vegan burgers, fries and hot dogs, meanwhile – and while the actual restaurant is being remodeled – you are back to the classic ono boxes (in Hawaiian: delicious). There are (brunch) boxes vegetarian or vegan, a box with sweets or one with wraps, dips and nachos (40 euros each for two people). The vegetarian box includes (somewhat firm) falafel with smoky sauce, hummus, beetroot spread, cheese and a few vegetable sticks alongside juicy banana bread, brownies, fruit and the almost obligatory (and really fine) chia pudding. The cereal, on the other hand, would not be necessary – and to understand the point of Cookie Dough, you have to be a few years younger. All in all, however, everything is fine. Maybe a bit sweet-heavy, especially because the box will not be delivered before 11 a.m. However, it is so generously stocked that there will certainly be at least one or two pieces of cake or (unfortunately all non-regional) fruit left for breakfast the next day.
For those who still prefer to lend a hand, Julia Platzer recently published a cookbook that you can order with the box: pretty and colorful and basically healthy. From green smoothie bowls to avocado and apple tartare to vegan carrot salmon bagels, everything is there that delights the hearts of hip foodies. And of course it is also suitable for Instagram!
