The Nice-Matin group launched this Friday, October 23 the podcast “Alex”. For a year, we will collect the testimonies of the inhabitants of the valleys, ravaged by the passage of storm Alex. They will share with us their fears but also their hopes … while they are rebuilding. The Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, in solidarity with the victims of storm Alex, is associated with the production of this podcast.
On the morning of October 3, 2020, after the passage of the storm Alex in the Alpes-Maritimes, the valleys of the high country of the Riviera offer a spectacle of desolation. At night, violent rains made the rivers swell and the water washed away houses, roads and cars … From Vésubie to Roya, hundreds of people gathered together. shot deprived of water and electricity. The material damage is considerable, the human losses impressive.

Our 8th great witness? Nabilla Bechani, maintenance agent at the college of Breil-sur-Roya.

At 40, Nabilla Bechani, maintenance worker at the college of Breil-sur-Roya, never left this village of Roya for very long, which saw her grow up, surrounded by her parents and her grandparents who came from Algeria. Here, it is her life, her memories … If her HLM was still standing after the passage of the storm Alex, the disaster caused a real internal earthquake in this inhabitant, mother of two little girls. After the denial, masked by a huge desire to help others even if it means forgetting oneself, the wound of that night of October 2 to 3 returned like a boomerang. Added to this are economic difficulties. But no question for Nabilla to desert the land of her childhood.
