Russia counted 27,039 new infections of Covid-19 and 536 deaths from this disease in the last 24 hours, the country’s health authorities reported this Friday.
Of the total of the new positives, 15.1% did not present clinical manifestations, while the number of recovered from the disease in the last day was 25 thousand .798.
Moscow, the main focus of the pandemic in Russia, added to its statistics 5,907 cases and 71 deaths caused by Covid-19.
According to the government committee created to fight the spread of the new coronavirus, to date, Russia accumulates 3,186,336 positives and 57,555 deaths from coronavirus.
However, this Wednesday the Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Tatiana Gólikova, admitted that the deaths from Covid-19 were close to 71 thousand.
Golíkova reported this new figure after the state statistics agency Rosstat reported that mortality in the country increased 13.9% between January and November 2020.
Despite these data, the Russian authorities have chosen not to tighten sanitary restrictions, although the mayor of Moscow extended the school holidays for a week, arguing that the capital is still at the peak of the pandemic.
The Government trusts that vaccination with the Russian preparation Sputnik V, which began on December 15, will reverse the trend and stabilize the epidemic situation in the country in the first months of 2021.
Russia is the fourth country in the world by number of Covid-19 infections, behind the United States, India and Brazil.
