According to the central quarantine countermeasures headquarters on the 2nd, one person infected with the mutant virus was confirmed among those arriving from South Africa. The infected person arrived in South Africa on the 26th of last month. During the entry quarantine process, he was diagnosed and placed in quarantine.
Four more cases of mutant virus infection from the UK were added on this day. Three out of four are family members of a man in his 80s who was diagnosed as’confirmed after death’ on the 26th of last month.
Two of them entered the country on the 13th of last month and were confirmed during self-quarantine, but the other one entered the country in November of last year and was confirmed to have visited a multi-use facility such as a mart near the residence in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do. Concerns also arise.
Another person, who entered the country from the UK, was confirmed while self-isolation.
As a result, the number of infected mutant viruses from the UK increased to 9 in total.
