jpnn.com – Honda claims it has developed a car mask, or what they call Kurumask, which can filter 99.8 percent of the virus in the air in 15 minutes.

Unfortunately, there is no established method to determine how effective these masks are against Covid-19, quoted from Carscoops, Friday.

In tests measuring the presence of phage E. coli molecules, an air filter installed in Kurumask removed 99.8 percent of the virus droplets (airbonre) circulating in the air in 15 minutes, and 99.9 percent of them within 24 hours.

For testing, the filter holder of an N-Box microcar is operated in air circulation mode because less air enters from the outside.

“We want to make drivers feel safe and comfortable even when they close their car windows in cold weather,” said Takaharu Echigo, who is in charge of developing the filter.

The Kurumask actually works as a mask because it can be attached to the cabin filter and according to Honda, it’s effective for about a year.

The tool works by using microscopic nails on its surface to catch and destroy viruses that pass through it.

The team behind it was inspired by academic research which found that dragonflies use similar spikes to keep their wings clean.
