Toulouse is again this year the city which gains the most inhabitants in France. The Pink City comes first, this time ahead Nantes and Montpellier.
More than 5,700 inhabitants per year
According to the latest figures from theInsee, published on December 29, 2020, the only municipality of Toulouse wins each year 5,706 inhabitants, over the period between 2013 and 2018.
The fourth largest city in France now accounts for 486,828 inhabitants.
Figures on the rise for Toulouse
Among the seven largest municipalities, Toulouse is the one that has increased its population the most in absolute terms (+ 5,706). Follow Nantes (+ 4 284), Montpellier (+ 3 594), Lyon (+ 3,584) and Marseille (+ 2 577). Conversely, the cities of Nice (- 253) and Paris (- 10,804) lose inhabitants each year.
In front of Lyon?
At this rate, Toulouse could overtake Lyon within fifteen years to become the third city in France behind Paris and Marseille. The Lyon population is today 518,635 inhabitants against 486,828 inhabitants in the Pink City.
