Fred VanVleet scored 25 points and the Toronto Raptors, who played star forward Pascal Siakam, got their first win this season by beating the New York Knicks 100-83 on Thursday night.
New York failed in its attempt to achieve its third consecutive victory due to a lack of force in its long distance shots and only made three 3-pointers of 36 attempts.
Siakam, who left the court quickly Tuesday night frustrated with his foul play in Philadelphia, was on the Toronto bench but out of uniform.
Norman Powell, who played as a starting forward, finished with 17 points after scoring three of Toronto’s first four baskets.
Kyle Lowry had 20 points for the Raptors (1-3).
Julius Randle had 16 points and 10 rebounds for the Knicks (2-3). Reggie Bullock and RJ Barrett did not hit any of their 17 3-point attempts.
The Knicks trailed 11 points early in the game and had a 29% offensive effectiveness (11 of 38 attempts) midway through the second period.
However, Randle scored eight straight points and put New York in the lead for the first time with a three-point play with 1:29 minutes into the first half.
