Freiburg, Emmendingen, Offenburg, Bad Säckingen, Furtwangen: missions for the fire brigade and rescue service on New Year’s Eve – roof fire, alcohol poisoning, traffic accidents, falls, breaks, New Year’s Eve injuries, Corona regulation violations …

CITY AREA OF FREIBURG (until 3 a.m.)

During the period mentioned above, the fire brigade handled four fire brigade operations and the rescue service carried out forty rescue operations in the urban area of the city of Freiburg.
As every year, the number of personnel on the guards and the organizational units was increased to ensure this. A total of 22 workers from the professional fire brigade and 25 volunteers from the volunteer fire brigade were on standby and 17 emergency vehicles
permanently occupied. From the rescue service 24 emergency services were on standby and 12 emergency vehicles were permanently manned.

Of the four fire brigade operations, three were reported by fire alarm systems to the integrated control center, which turned out to be false alarms. At 12:45 a.m., the emergency services had to extinguish a bicycle shed.

The rescue service had to go to 40 missions. Among other things, there were alcohol poisoning, falls, breaks and an injury caused by a New Year’s Eve crab.

Conclusion: The restrictions imposed by the state government were largely accepted by the citizens of the city of Freiburg and therefore led to a comparatively low number of deployments.

OFFENBURG (Police headquarters Offenburg)

The New Year’s Eve was relatively calm!

The command and situation center of the Offenburg police headquarters received around 270 calls in the night of January 1st, which led to around 140 operations. Numerous citizens gave information about private celebrations and gatherings in public spaces that did not comply with the applicable provisions of the Corona Ordinance.

The number of reports increased immediately before the turn of the year
with regard to the prohibited burning of pyrotechnics again strongly. Proven violations of the provisions of the Corona Ordinance were consistently punished and reported by the police officers.

In a total of five cases, fire brigade and police forces were called to small fires, which, however, did not cause any major damage, as the majority of these were waste bins that caught fire from New Year’s fireworks.

In contrast to previous years, the limited fireworks “gave” our pets a somewhat calmer turn of the year – only two runaway dogs were reported to the situation center.

The beginning of the new year is unlikely to have fond memories of several motor vehicle drivers. With values between 0.7 and almost 1.8 per mille, blood samples were taken from these vehicle drivers and their driving licenses withheld. In the case of an accident in Gernsbach, the influence of alcohol on the driver of the vehicle was probably one of the causes of the accident.

The Offenburg police headquarters recorded a total of 25 traffic accidents at the turn of the year – it is pleasing that only one cyclist was slightly injured in one accident in Weisenbach.

Overall, the Offenburg Police Headquarters draws a positive balance for this “special” New Year in Corona times!
