One new prisoner in Gwangju Prison was released after being diagnosed with a novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).
According to the correctional authorities on the 1st, Mr. A, who was a wanted man, was arrested by an investigative agency after entering the country on the 30th of last month. In the process of arrest, Mr. A was subjected to a Corona 19 PCR (gene amplification) test, and was transferred to Gwangju prison for rapid antigen testing.
Mr. A received a negative test for the rapid antigen that he received during the admission process and was held in a new room alone, but the next day, the 31st, the PCR test was positive. The authorities decided to investigate Mr. A in a state of disability, taking into account concerns about the spread of Corona 19 in the facility, and ordered him to be released.
On the other hand, according to the Ministry of Justice, no prisoners were found to be confirmed as of 5 pm the previous day.
As of 5 p.m. the previous day, the current status of corona19 confirmed detainees by institution is 535 people in the eastern detention center in Seoul, 345 people in North Gyeongsang Province 2 prison, 21 people in Gwangju prison, 16 people in southern prison, 2 people in Seoul detention center, 6 people in North Gangwon prison.
