Robbie Williams Live – 2020: Good or Bad New Year for Robbie?

We keep hearing our ears about it all day long: 2020 would be one of the worst years in decades. But can the same be said for Robbie? Has the year been so nightmarish for the singer? I suggest you take stock!

Everything had started as planned: in January, the singer had given a concert in Dubai, and in February, we learned of the birth of his son, Beau Benedict Enthoven Williams.

But that changed in mid-March, when Robbie arrived in Melbourne, Australia. While he was about to sing at the F1 grand prix, global confinement was triggered, and he was forced to cancel the show, before going to confine himself in an annex of his Hollywood home.

If we think of the canceled events, they are indeed very numerous. Among the events that have been canceled we have:

  • The concert at the F1 Grand Prix
  • 16 concerts in Las Vegas
  • 1 concert in Bonn to pay tribute to Beethoven (concert for the moment postponed to 2021)
  • 1 concert in his hometown of Stoke-On-Trent (Pete Conway was to celebrate his retirement there)
  • Soccer Aid (which finally took place behind closed doors in September)

To this list we can perhaps add the reissue of The Christmas Present which was to contain 7 unreleased tracks (we had to be content with a new single, released without a physical reissue of the album).

We can also say that Robbie had probably planned other events, which could not be completed because of the health crisis.

But is it a dark year for Robbie? Let’s take a closer look.

Even if no new album has been released (he does not come out every year for that matter), the singer has multiplied the featurings, and 2020 was also one of the richest years in featurings for him! We were indeed entitled to:

  • The Big Goodbye and duo avec Ronan Keating
  • Strange Days, en duo avec The Struts
  • Stop Cryin’ Your Heart Out, pour Children In Need

On the solo side, we obviously got some new tracks:

  • Can’t Stop Christmas
  • If I Don’t Cry (Demo)
  • A House Without A Mum (Demo)

Is that really all? Far from there ! Let us not forget also:

  • The mini-concert with Take That, in videoconference
  • The legendary hologram performance with The Struts during the Soccer Aid half-time
  • A very large promo session on radio and TV in the United Kingdom to accompany the release of the single Can’t Stop Christmas
  • Numerous Corona-OKE sessions last spring, during which he unveiled many unpublishedec

So for a year that was more than complicated, Robbie is doing quite well: he has managed to adapt immediately to the situation, and to stay on the front of the stage, with these many events.

What about RWL? There too the year was complicated! Facebook unfortunately decided to delete my old page last February (nearly 5000 followers). But the page came back as a group on July 14:

Meanwhile, singer Plastic Bertrand came through RWL to address Robbie ( see article ). And in December, RWL came back with a brand new version, which you are reading this article about.

Conclusion : do not let ourselves be overwhelmed by hardship! Everything is not to be thrown away in 2020, and I am convinced that 2021 will still bring us many surprises!

Happy Holidays to all!
