(Mexico City = Yonhap News) Correspondent Mi-hye Ko = AstraZeneca’s new coronavirus infection (Corona 19) vaccine has been approved in Argentina, South America.
Argentine health authorities announced on the 30th (local time) that they would approve the emergency use of the Corona 19 vaccine developed by Oxford University in the UK and AstraZeneca, a multinational pharmaceutical company.
Argentina is the second to approve the use of the AstraZeneca vaccine after the UK.
Argentina and Mexico agreed to produce a Latin American supply of AstraZeneca vaccine in August.
Argentina previously approved the urgent use of a vaccine from Pfizer and German Bioentech in the United States and a vaccine developed in Russia, and the day before, the Russian vaccine Sputnik V was launched.
The Mexican government, which has already started vaccinating the Pfizer vaccine, welcomed the UK government’s approval of the AstraZeneca vaccine, and said approval in Mexico is also imminent.
