The mask requirement in Freiburg’s old town is being extended – Freiburg

The obligation to wear mouth and nose protection in Freiburg’s old town will be extended until January 22nd. Anyone who does not adhere to it must expect a fine of 100 euros.

A mask is already mandatory in downtown Freiburg. However, the decree waiving this obligation expires on December 31st. Therefore, as announced by the health department, a new so-called general decree will come into force on January 1, which implements the coronary requirements of the federal government and the state. It is valid until January 22nd.

The reason for the extension is the high number of corona infections – in the city of Freiburg, the 7-day incidence is 126.3 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants according to the state health office’s management report of December 29. The obligation to wear a mouth and nose cover covers the entire city center from Bismarckallee to Schlossbergring and from Dreisamufer to Friedrich- / Leopoldring.

Anyone who does not adhere to the regulation risks a fine of 100 euros. Children up to the age of six and people with a medical certificate are exempt from the mask requirement. The duty also does not apply while smoking, drinking or eating.
