This is not the first time that the commune police station has been targeted by mortar fire. Already, on the night of July 11 to 12, 2019, shortly before July 14, a night generally peppered with urban violence, the police station had already been targeted with mortar fire, on the sidelines of Algeria’s victory. , in the African Cup of Nations.
“Once again, our colleagues are attacked on the eve of festivities in the Pontault-Combault sector. As long as there will be no arrests followed by sanctions, it is inevitable ”, fulminates Christophe Gonzalez, regional secretary of the Alliance 77 union.
Mortar fire in the city of Ocil
If the mortar shots were fired in the direction of the police station, however, they did not reach the building and there was no material damage or injuries. Mortar fire was also observed in the city of Ocil in a concomitant manner.
For the time being, there has been no interpellation. “Tomorrow, my colleagues will be on the alert to ensure the curfew. It is obvious that many will not respect it. We need heavy sanctions against this gangrene ”, insists the trade unionist, who calls for“ staffing for the department ”.
In July 2019, trash cans had also been set on fire in the Ocil neighborhood. Firefighters and police had intervened but law enforcement had been taken apart by rioters and hid in the police station pending departmental reinforcements.
