Mayor Ludwig: “We stand together in Europe in solidarity and support the population in Croatia that was hit so badly by the earthquake”
Vienna (OTS / RK) – This afternoon, the first transporter from the Vienna fire brigade set off for Croatia. The truck is loaded with fan heaters, light balloons and large area lights. In addition, 200 tent lights that were picked up from the Red Cross camp are transported in the vehicle of the Viennese professional fire brigade.
The aid delivery from Vienna is coordinated with the disaster control facility of the Federal Ministry of the Interior as well as with the European Union. Overall, the Austrian delivery to the earthquake area also includes residential containers and camp beds. Previously, more than a dozen EU countries, including Austria and Turkey, had pledged aid under the EU civil protection mechanism.
Mayor Michael Ludwig: “The terrible pictures that we received from Croatia yesterday make us very concerned. Our thoughts are with the victims, their relatives, the many emergency services and the population. Especially in these difficult hours we make it clear that we in Europe stand together in solidarity and support the people in Croatia that were so badly hit by the earthquake. “
The City of Vienna offered to provide additional materials. The entire handling of the relief transport is carried out by the City of Vienna – fire brigade and disaster control.
