FCW blocks against compulsory vaccination on the Schützenwiese – TOP ONLINE

The Union of Swiss Football Players (SAFP) caused a sensation on Tuesday with a controversial proposal: Coronavirus vaccination is to apply in Swiss football stadiums as soon as the vaccine is available to the general public. The ghost games should be history once and for all.

According to the proposal of the SAFP, the mandatory vaccination should apply to the players as well as the staff members and all spectators. Those who do not want to be vaccinated still have the opportunity to watch the game at home on television, so the argument goes.

This suggestion does not meet with much approval from the clubs. When asked by RADIO TOP, Andreas Mösli, Managing Director of FC Winterthur, said: “This suggestion is a bit premature. That is a political and ethical question – it has to be examined seriously. It’s too early to be clear about this. So it amazes me that the players’ union representative already has such a clear opinion on this. “

Controls at the stadium entrance are almost impossible

He also hoped that there would soon be football games in front of full ranks again – but without any vaccination. It is also questionable how the clubs would check who is vaccinated and who is not. Mösli: “How do you want to control the 10,000 spectators at the entrance?”

It is also unclear whether a corresponding compulsory vaccination for football games would be legally permissible: the Federal Council has been cautious about this issue in the past. In response to a request from parliament, the Federal Council recently wrote that admission to events or facilities was only discriminatory for vaccinated people. However, the Federal Council has now finally clarified whether such discrimination could be proportionate in view of the Corona crisis – it wants to make further clarifications in this regard.

In addition to the Association of Football Players, the cultural sector is also considering compulsory vaccinations: However, the idea there is currently met with a lot of skepticism – similar to the FCW. This is because too little is known about the effects and long-term consequences of the vaccination.
