The presentation had already been announced and now the time has finally come. The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi has officially presented the Mi 11. A launch in Europe is expected in early 2021. It is the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 888 chip, but the smartphone has a lot to offer on many more points.

Xiaomi Mi 11 official

Of Xiaomi Mi 11 is available in several colors and variants in terms of housing. For example (in China at least) you can choose from a gray, blue and white version with a glass back. You can also choose a purple or beige variant, made of leather. The Mi 11 contains a metal frame, which provides the necessary strength.

The AMOLED screen is no less than 6.81 inches and contains a high QHD resolution. The refresh rate is up to 120Hz, but you can also set it to a lower speed. Then content is displayed less smoothly, but that does have a positive effect on the battery life.

The screen can display a billion colors and is coated Gorilla Glass Victus to prevent scratches and damage. There is a hole for the front camera, with which you can shoot selfies of up to 20 megapixels. Finally, you will find the optical fingerprint scanner in the screen.

First smartphone with Snapdragon 888 processor

Xiaomi has the scoop, as the Mi 11 is the first smartphone with the Snapdragon 888 chip from manufacturer Qualcomm. That processor was presented earlier this year and is the successor to the Snapdragon 865 variant. The chip delivers better performance in terms of raw processor power, graphics performance and battery life. Also is a 5G-modem integrated into the chip, so that you are immediately ready for the future of the mobile internet.

You can choose from different variants in terms of working and storage memory. The basic version has 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. Expanding it is not included, but there is also a 256GB variant for sale. The top model also has 12GB of RAM on board.

Three cameras and large battery

The manufacturer supplies the device with three cameras on the back, each of which has its own unique feature. Snapshots are standard with the 108 megapixel camera, with which you can effortlessly capture every detail. That sensor also has OIS, or optical image stabilization.

There is also a wide-angle camera for wider images of up to 13 megapixels. You use the third camera for this close-ups and has a somewhat meager resolution of 5 megapixels. Filming is done in a high 8K resolution, where everything is recorded with stereo sound. The device also has two speakers to fully enjoy listening to music or watching a movie.

In terms of battery, the Xiaomi Mi 11 is also well equipped on paper. The battery has a capacity of 4600mAh and charging via a cable is possible with a maximum of 55 Watt. Wireless charging is also possible and can be done with a maximum of 50 watts. However, the separately available charger from Xiaomi itself is required. Finally, you can also wirelessly charge other devices such as smartphones or earplugs. You do this by placing the device on the back of the device.

Android 11 and availability Xiaomi Mi 11

It is the manufacturer’s first smartphone to be delivered directly with Android 11. However, the latest version of Android has its own shell: MIUI 12.5. Its own applications have been added to it and its appearance has been significantly modified. The Xiaomi Mi 11 also has many other fine functions. For example, there is an infrared sensor on board. This way you use the smartphone as a universal remote control.

From January 1, the device can be pre-ordered in China itself, which is possible from around 500 euros. The most expensive variant should yield about 600 euros in the home country. However, it is not possible to compare prices one to one with Europe.

With an upcoming European release, probably in the first quarter of 2021, you have to take into account a higher entry price. Its predecessor, in the form of the Wed 10, was put on the market here from 749 euros.
