Neyyattinkara: The police took steps to evict Rajan and his family just before the High Court heard the case. About an hour and a half later, Rajan and his wife Ambuli were hospitalized after sustaining severe burns during a suicide attempt by the time the stay order came from the high court.
A team of police arrived at the Neyyattinkara Principal Munsiff Court on the afternoon of the 22nd to enforce the order. On the same day, at 2.30 pm, Justice V. Rajan’s petition was heard. The stay order came from the bench of Shirsey. Jinesh Paul, who appeared in the high court, said that by then Rajan’s lawyer in Thiruvananthapuram had called and told him about the tragic incident.
On June 16, the court ordered the eviction of Rajan and his family. The sub-court approached the high court as it was late in considering the appeal. The stay is granted until January 15 for a Munsiff court order.
