CARACAS (Sputnik) – Relations between Venezuela and Turkey reached the highest level of the cooperation alliance that they have had for 70 years, said the Foreign Minister of the South American nation, Jorge Arreaza.

“Today we celebrate 70 years of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Venezuela and Turkey. We have reached the highest and most comprehensive level of our cooperation alliance, strengthening ties of brotherhood, contributing to a more just and supportive world,” Arreaza wrote in his account On twitter.

Last August, Caracas and Ankara signed new agreements on the establishment and operation of activities in cultural centers, construction of new housing units, health and education.

The signing of the new agreements came after the visit to Venezuela of the Turkish Foreign Minister, Mevlüt Cavusoglu, who assured that the exchanges between his country and the South American nation “tripled” in recent months despite the pandemic by COVID-19.

Similarly, Venezuela and Turkey agreed to the construction of a hospital with capacity for 288 beds in the Caribbean country.

Turkey has emerged as a trusted partner for Venezuela in recent times, and has earned an important position in the foreign trade of the South American country as a result of the sanctions that the European Union imposed in 2018 on Caracas.

Furthermore, Ankara has reiterated its willingness to cooperate in the context of the problems that have caused the coronavirus pandemic.
