Since Christmas Eve over the holidays, 30 employees have been working in the local health department with the support of the Bundeswehr. Even if not all citizens were always able to get rid of their questions immediately, the Corona hotlines are manned, incoming laboratory reports are processed, data are updated and transmitted and necessary quarantine notices are issued.
These official notices are delivered personally by the employees of the district office, since the post has not been fast enough to inform people in time since December 24th due to the holidays, sd even district administrator Harald Zanker, the alderman Jörg Klupak and Südeichsfeld’s mayor Andreas Henning can be found in front of one or the other mailbox.
It is currently not foreseeable whether all these measures will be sufficient to cope with the increasingly precarious situation. The fourth isolation ward at the Hufeland Clinic in Bad Langensalza is already fully occupied. In addition, patients have to be driven to so-called level 1 clinics every day. These clinics have large, separate intensive care units and are intended to accept coronavirus patients who, among other things, require ventilation.
