Peñarol de Mar del Plata, a discreet campaign, secured in the last hours the arrivals of two foreign chips for the continuity of the National Basketball League (LNB)
The ‘milrayitas’ entity itself, led by the tucumano coach Carlos Romano, made it official today that it agreed to link the Americans Tony Mitchell and Markel Crawford to its squad.
Mitchell is 31 years old, was born in the state of Georgia and is a regular power forward. The foreigner records a previous stint at Cantú, of the Italian First Division.
For his part, Crawford, 26, is a native of Memphis and comes from the NBA G-League, a category in which he played for the Memphis Hustle.
Both players will embark by air to Argentina next Saturday, although it is doubtful that they will be in a position to make their debut in the game on Thursday, January 7, against Boca Juniors, which will mark the resumption of the LNB for the Mar del Plata cast, after the break for the New Year.
Peñarol temporarily occupies the eleventh position in the table, with a 5-7 mark, far from the line of leader Quimsa de Santiago del Estero, who has a 16-3 record. (Télam)
