Jan Böhmermann tweeted about hostility towards bicycles in Cologne

Jan Böhmermann spoke again about the traffic situation for cyclists in Cologne. On Twitter, he questioned the city’s security.

It is not the first time that the satirist Jan Böhmermann has spoken out about the situation for cyclists in Cologne. In his podcast “Fest & Flauschig” the traffic in Cologne was a topic again and again. Now he followed up on Twitter. The “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger” reported first.

“Did you know: In Cologne, it is safer for cyclists to swim across the Rhine by bike than to use one of the seven bridges,” tweeted Böhmermann on Sunday.

Many people share the criticism of the situation for cyclists. Last year, the city’s cycle paths came last in an ADFC ranking with a grade of 4.4. And consent is also given in the comment column on Twitter. “In Cologne there are usable bridges? Thought they were all dilapidated problem children,” jokes one user. “If you have made it safely across Venloer or Neusser Straße by then,” comments another.

Böhmermann then shared a contribution from the Cologne traffic turnaround. The alliance is calling for five new environmental bridges that only serve cycling.
