“UK approves use of AstraZeneca vaccine this week” | Voice of America

A novel coronavirus vaccine jointly developed by British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca and Oxford University will be approved in the UK this week.

The UK’s Financial Times newspaper and others reported yesterday (27th) that the approval of the use of the vaccine by the UK Drug and Health Care Products Regulatory Authority (MHRA) is imminent, and that the announcement could be made before the 29th.

In a media interview today (28th), Chief of State Coordination Officer Michael Gove said that if the vaccine is approved and released as planned, the blockade could be gradually eased.

It is reported that the British government plans to distribute the AstraZeneca vaccine from early next month if approved.

Meanwhile, AstraZeneca’s CEO Pascal Sorio said in an interview with the local media yesterday (27th) that “the researchers have found a victory formula that increases the efficacy of the vaccine.” However, “I cannot say that formula now. ”He explained.

He also said, “I think it will be effective so far, but I’m not sure,” he said, “so we will test the effect.”

AstraZeneca reported that in the previously published phase 3 clinical trial analysis results, the prevention rate was 90% when the vaccine was given half the dose at the first dose and then the full dose at the second dose.
