Disasters keep happening in our world. Suddenly they tear children away from their everyday lives and change their lives. Rapid international aid ensures reconstruction or the provision of food and water. This is important, as Constantin Gemmingen also knows. He is involved with other young adults. After a disaster, the Aid Pioneers help the weakest in the chain – the children.

The group has already supported the many children and young people in Beirut who lost their homes in the devastating explosion in August with donations of over 1,000 kilograms in kind. On six flights, stationery, cuddly toys, toys and board games were transported for girls and boys who would otherwise have no opportunity to fulfill their childhood dreams after the disaster.

Constantin Gemmingen was already interested in the Aid Pioneers during his studies. A few months ago he met a friend from before who was a co-founder of Aid Pioneers and who gave Constantin Gemmingen extensive information about the projects. Professionally, the Friedenfelser works as a mechanical engineer in a medical technology company in Berlin. And since the main location of the initiative is Berlin, “working for Aid Pioneers was a stroke of luck,” reports Constantin Gemmingen. As an aid pioneer, he now has the opportunity to help what many media often report only briefly or not at all.

Flight bridge organized

Constantin Gemmingen does not want to conceal the fact that they are sometimes confronted with unforeseeable difficulties when talking to Oberpfalz-Medien. “When the warehouse in Beirut exploded, the first task was how to bring the donations in kind from Germany to Lebanon. After 500 calls and over 100 e-mails, the logistics behind a flight bridge was organized. ”Constantin Gemmingen continues:“ After many failed attempts, we found a reliable partner in the Sundair airline from Stralsund and made the donations in kind to Beirut with six flights. We have at least made life in the rubble a little better for more than 1000 children. “

“Anyone can propose a project for Aid Pioneers.”

Constantin Gemmingen reports that a fire broke out in the Moria refugee camp on Lesbos (Greece) during the Beirut project. “Here, too, we didn’t want to look the other way, we wanted to take action. We noticed flights by the federal government that brought refugees from Greece to Hanover once a week. The chartered planes flew back empty to Greece, which is why we asked the Federal Ministry of the Interior whether we could empty freight capacities “, says the Friedenfelser. He is pleased that the first flight to Athens with 300 kilograms of winter clothing for children could be transported on December 3rd.” The donations were handed over in Athens to the International Organization for Migration, which the Distribution coordinated. “

School supplies for orphanage

Constantin Gemmingen knows that a further project is to be initiated in Iraq next year. “There we want to cooperate with other German organizations to help deliver school supplies to an orphanage in Iraqi Kurdistan. Aid Pioneers is a young people initiative that supports other organizations in the field of logistics. So far we have always given free help and accepted toys and learning materials in the form of donations. But now we are also collecting financial donations. With this, we want to buy high-quality school supplies and warm clothing in the future as well as take up more logistics space to help even more children. “

Constantin Gemmingen: “The link to our campaign can be found at https://www.aidpioneers.com.” Constantin Gemmingen will be on site in Iraq next year. “On the one hand, it makes sending donations easier if it is a passenger can be given and then picked up at the destination airport by an organization. On the other hand, it is a sign of appreciation for the recipient if the person responsible for the assistance is on site. Both together, however, also give me the opportunity to guide the donations safely to their destination. “

In addition to helpers and supporters, Constantin Gemmingen also advertises other projects and emphasizes: “Anyone can propose a project for Aid Pioneers. So far, some projects have come about by chance or coincidence. Despite our now extensive help, the Aid Pioneers are still in a starting phase. A great help for us is the verbal dissemination of our activities and the support via social media. Many projects are still ahead of us. ”Constantin Gemmingen continues:“ Only young people work at Aid Pioneers. Everyone works on a voluntary basis and every donation benefits the project without any deductions. Help us – every amount, whether 5 euros or 500 euros, improves the everyday life of needy children. “
