MADRID, 28 Dic. (EUROPA PRESS) –
Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) has closed a financing agreement for its Metz solar plant, 115 megawatts (MW) and located in New South Wales (Australia), reported the renewable firm that is part of Abdul Latif Jameel Energy.
Specifically, the financing has been granted by the companies Westpac and Nord / NLB in the form of a green loan. This is FRV’s second green loan in Australia and one of the first renewable energy financing projects of its kind in the country.
The renewables company completed the acquisition of this project last November, which is backed by a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Snowy Hydro, signed in 2018.
The plant is located in Australia’s New England region in New South Wales, near Hillgrove, 20 kilometers east of Armidale. It will connect to the national grid and generate enough energy to supply up to 40,000 Australian households, which is equivalent to more than half the population of the region which has a total of 66,000 households. In addition, it is estimated that approximately 288,000 tons of CO2 from greenhouse gases will be reduced.
With the Metz solar plant, FRV’s solar projects in operation and under construction in Australia will number eight, of which four are in New South Wales, including Moree (56 MW) and Goonumbla (69.75 MW), in operation, and Sebastopol (90 MW), under construction.
FRV Australia Managing Director Carlo Frigerio was “pleased” to see that the Metz solar plant has secured the funding to begin construction and highlighted that 2020 has been an “extraordinary” year for the group in Australia, with three financial closings achieved in less than 12 months.
