Celaya.- Pending approval of the ‘Guarantee Fund’, 80 units of public transport are working without insurance so, if the issue is not resolved, they will have to hire a bail before the year is out.
Since July 2019 five companies Public transport concessionaires proposed to the municipal government to create the figure of ‘Guarantee Fund’ with 5.6 million pesos and cancel the contracting of insurance with a surety company, to take care of themselves in case of an accident.
To date, this possibility has not been endorsed by the City Council, however, companies such as Green of Guanajuato, Supacel and STDA They have not contracted insurance for 80 units of public transport.
Companies will take responsibility
In this regard, the Director of Mobility and Public Transport, José Trinidad Martínez SotoHe pointed out that those responsible for these companies will be responsible for covering the damages that may occur in the event of an accident. However, to date there have been no incidents.
“There have been no incidents and in case there are any they will have to cover them directly taking as unit warranty and if this year is not fulfilled they will have to get out of circulation”Said the official.
Likewise, Martínez Soto said that the concessionaires’ proposal is still being reviewed and in case it is not approved, the companies will have to contract a insurance policy before end the yearIn case this does not happen, the trucks that do not have accident insurance will be taken out of circulation.
