From January 1, 2021, the United Kingdom leaves the European Union. But from that date, the passport will not be necessary yet to be able to travel to our British neighbors. Only the identity card will be required to cross the border.
But only for 9 months. Because from 1 October 2021, it is imperative to present an up-to-date passport to get to the other side of the Channel.
All this concerns “short” stays, of less than 6 months. If you want to stay in the UK for more than 6 months, you must have a visa, with proof of studies, work or family reunification.
If we wish traveling with a pet, it must meet three criteria : have an identification using a chip, a veterinary passport and be vaccinated against rabies. More specifically for a dog, it must be over 3 months old and be treated against greens between 5 days and 24 hours before departure. One must not have more than 5 animals when crossing the border, except exceptional exemption for competitions for example.
To travel in the United Kingdom, the French driving license remains valid. No need to get an international passport. However, driving on the left remains compulsory!
