In a frontal collision between Wohlen and Bremgarten in the canton of Aargau, five people were injured on Sunday night. A car driver had to be rescued from the wrecked car by the fire brigade and taken to the hospital in a rescue helicopter.

The accident occurred shortly after 00:30 in Bremgarten, as the Aargau canton police announced. A 20-year-old motorist had been driving towards Bremgarten from Wohlen. He is likely to have lost control of his vehicle and collided with an oncoming car, the police wrote.

The occupants of this oncoming car, a family with two children, were slightly injured and driven to the hospital by the ambulance. The 20-year-old, on the other hand, was trapped in his vehicle by the force of the impact. The fire brigade had to free him. He was then flown to the hospital.

How the accident could have happened was initially unclear. The responsible public prosecutor opened criminal proceedings and ordered a blood and urine sample. Both vehicles involved in the accident were secured. The person who caused the accident had to hand in the driver’s license on probation. The affected road had to be closed for around five hours to record the accident and the evacuation work.
