The home game of ASV Hamm-Westphalia in the 2nd handball Bundesliga on Christmas Day against HSG Konstanz was canceled at short notice.

“A supervisor from HSG Konstanz called us on the morning of the match day and informed us that a player’s brother was suspected of having a corona infection,” said ASV managing director Thomas Lammers. “Since the player had contact with his brother and also with the team, we decided to cancel the game.” In coordination with HBL, both clubs agreed on the postponement.

Annoying for Hamm, but also for the guests. Because they had already arrived on Christmas Day and stayed in a great hotel. “Theoretically we could have played because this case is in a gray area and no player is directly considered a Corona case,” Lammers continued. “But we wouldn’t have wanted to take the risk. Before we play and Konstanz during the week at home and we become super spreaders in Aue, we’d rather leave it and catch up with the game at a later point in time. ”

When that will be has not yet been determined due to the topicality of the events.
