Roger Stone Amnesty Involved In Russian Scandal

– US President Donald Trump, nearing the end of his term of office, issued a massive pardon for two consecutive days. There is a controversy over preferential treatment aimed at the closest close associates.

According to the Associated Press and CNN on the 23rd (local time), President Trump announced that 26 people would be pardoned. This is an additional measure following the pardon of 15 people, including diplomatic advisors for the former election camp.

The pardon included Charles, father-in-law Jared Kushner, the father of senior White House advisors, and Paul Manaport, his 2016 elections chief.

Roger Stone, a longtime close friend, was also on the list. Stone is a person involved in the so-called “Russian scandal” that Russia intervened for President Trump’s election in the 2016 presidential election. Two people involved in the case were pardoned the day before. Manaport was the first person to be prosecuted by Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller, who investigated the Russian scandal, and is regarded as the first contributor to the election of President Trump. He was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months on charges such as money laundering, but in May, he was sentenced to send the rest of his sentence to house arrest. Suspicion of benefits arose around this. In this decision, it was considered that he was a patient in his 70s with an underlying disease susceptible to the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19).

He tweeted, “I can’t express how much I and my family are grateful for this pardon.”

Stone was convicted in November of last year on charges of perjury related to the Russian scandal. President Trump has already given Stone a commuting sentence equivalent to a pardon through an executive order in July.

In-law, Charles Kuschner, pleaded guilty to 18 charges, including tax evasion and illegal fundraising for presidential elections, and was sentenced to two years in prison.

The pardon was announced after President Trump left the White House that day to spend Christmas holidays at the resort in Marrakech, Florida.
