one year closed for Yolande Wong Lam

Tahiti, December 24, 2020 – Yolande Wong Lam was sentenced Thursday morning to one year in prison on appeal in the context of the so-called Sofipac tax exemption fraud case. A swindle amounting to 3.8 billion Francs, in which eleven other defendants were involved.

Sentenced for the first time on appeal on August 2, 2018 to four years in prison, including two years suspended, Yolande Wong Lam, the main contributor of cases in this case, then appealed to the Court of Cassation.

The highest court of the French judicial order had rendered its decision on March 16, quashing the appeal judgment on the conviction of Yolande Wong Lam. The Court of Cassation had indeed considered that the Court of Appeal of Papeete, when it had condemned the provider of business had not justified in its judgment the feasibility, or not, of the adjustment of the two years firm .

Yolande Wong Lam was therefore again tried by the Papeete Court of Appeal on Thursday morning and sentenced to one year in prison. A verdict which finally confirms the sentence handed down at first instance on January 19, 2016.
