Located in the heart of the Voltaire college, open to the courtyard, the foyer is the ideal place for practicing musical instruments. Drums, guitar, piano, Djembé… everything is there. Enough to allow students to open up and discover musical culture.

This Tuesday, December 15, Karine Traval-Michelet, mayor of Colomiers and Karine Tortorici, principal of the college signed an agreement there, relating to the organization of amplified current music workshops, within the establishment by the conservatory with influence musical of the city.

This agreement was initiated by the territorial educational project (PEDT).

“These courses are a way to interest young people”, explains Delphine Pascault, director of the conservatory. “The practice of current music is an important stake. The teacher makes discover this music, makes the link and diversifies.”

Four hours a week, Éric Villeneuve, drums teacher at the conservatory, runs the workshop. He works jointly with Jean-Michel Briols, music teacher in the establishment.

“All the students are versatile,” says Jean-Michel Briols. “With the choir that I also lead, we build bridges, so that the work is common, that the link is also created.”

As part of the convention, all musical instruments are provided by the town hall.

“This partnership is motivating and interesting”, continues Karine Tortorici. “It brings an important musical culture that asks only to evolve.”

Mathis, Sélim and Pierre are delighted to do these workshops “Music brings us joy, good humor too. We learn while having fun. In groups, we create links. Music opens us to culture.”

A concert will be given by the young artists on June 1 at the Salle Gascogne.
