Isère benefits from a new Departmental Archives building in Saint-Martin-d’Hères.
It took nearly two years of work to complete the new Departmental Archives building. This space is located near the university campus at 12 rue Georges Perec in Saint-Martin-d’Hères (Isère). The project was designed by the agencies D3 Architects in Bordeaux and CR&ON Architects in Grenoble. Construction was completed in November 2020.
“The Departmental Archives will become a real place of life, open to our territory. They are the symbol of a modern vision of heritage and the conservation of our collective memory ”, underlines André Gillet, vice-president in charge of departmental buildings.
The operation, for a total amount estimated at € 37 million, received financial support from the Ministry of Culture to the tune of € 3.26 million. The building will open its doors to visitors from June 2021 after the relocation of the existing archives.
