It will soon be a year since Samsung introduced its Chromebook, and it looks like its successor, Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 is about to take over. And is that this week we have experienced two leaks, one referring to its design and the other, today, on what will be found inside and its possible price, and both are really interesting. And if the first generation was very promising, this first review does not seem far behind.
Regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2, a leak from Evan Blass via Voice shows us the variants of red (although in the image it looks more orange) and gray, and we see that in this second generation body color spreads to the edges. We also see that the connectors on the left side have been rearranged a bit. As for the right, you can only appreciate a USB-C.
And after this leak of its design, WalkingCat today posted on Twitter what looks like a slide of a Best Buy presentation dedicated to the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 with some very interesting tips from the Samsung Chromebook review. And the first thing, before going into its content, is that the existence of this document (if it is real) indicates that both its presentation and its sale are not too far away.
One aspect to note is that if the model presented in January of this year has a 4K AMOLED touchscreen, the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 would have an improvement in this regard, during assembly. a 13.3-inch QLED display. As we can read from the slide, this would be the first Chromebook to have this technology on its display, a technology that Samsung has been using in its TVs for some time.
Another notable point is its battery life. If with the first generation it can be a bit difficult to go a whole day without recharging it, with the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 it seems that the manufacturer aims to achieve and exceed 12 hours of autonomy. If this improvement becomes effective, this revision would represent a great qualitative leap compared to the original.
As for its processor, if the Samsung Galaxy Chrome has an Intel Core i5-10210U, the imminent Samsung Galaxy Chrome 2 for now we only know it’s built around a 10th gen Intel Core i3. We will surely have to wait for its official presentation to know which chip in particular Samsung has chosen for the first major revision of its Chromebook.
In the slide we can read that the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 will arrive at Best Buy sometime in February 2021. A date that, combined with the history of the current version of the device, invites us to think that This new version will be presented at CES 2021, which will be held in the first days of 2021, so it will take little time for us to clear all the unknowns.
Now, if you are wondering about the price, and although without official confirmation, a second tweet from WalkingCat points out that the starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 will be $ 699, lower than the price with which the first generation debuted.
