A 33-year-old soldier, arrested Monday afternoon at Orly airport in possession of 4 kilos of cocaine, killed himself on Wednesday while in police custody, indicated The Parisian. The thirty-something was coming back from Guyana.

The man was in custody at the airport when he managed to seize the weapon of a policewoman, recently assigned to the service. The soldier, who belongs to Guyana’s 9th Marine Regiment, took advantage of the fact that she brought him his cell meal to steal his weapon. “She struggled but the man still managed to take up arms,” a police source told the Parisian.
Open investigation
Supported in critical condition by the emergency services, the 33-year-old suspect did not survive his injury.
The Créteil public prosecutor’s office has announced the opening of an investigation for “research into the causes of death”, entrusted to the General Inspectorate of the National Police (IGPN).
